I have felt that Hersheys were safe and have used them for a couple of years without any trouble whatsoever. I talked to Hershey not too long ago and came away very comfortable about their labelling practices. They are specific and seem very careful. Hope this helps!

I called nestle last week and they said that their semi-sweet chips are fine---no danger of xcontam or anything. I now have 4 bags int the cupboard just waiting for me to have time to make something!

I usually use VNF, but have used Hershey or Nestle in a pinch, since they have been consistent in their responses to Xcontam issues.

However, my family always comments that the ""cookies arent as good as usual"" when I use anything other than VNF!

oooo. a white morsel I was using before, recently appeared with a ""warning"" label re: nuts and peanuts. dangit.

I just made chocolate chip cookies today, and used Ghiradellis. They were great, all ingredients are fine!

Ive always used Nestles Semi-sweet w/ success.

Used to use Guittard but now I cannot find it anymore. So we use Hershey and it has been fine.

Hmmm, all the Ghirardellis around here are labelled ""May Contain"".
