The Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) foundation has been building college programs to improve food allergy awareness and accommodation on campuses nationwide.
The program is researching and developing ways to improve these aspects of university life for students.
Brandeis University in Massachusetts has announced that it will be joining the FARE program for universities, with its program being led by Kate Moran of Brandeis Dining Services. Brandeis will be part of FARE’s second round of evaluations.
Brandeis offers students safe options
Currently, students on campus looking for allergen-free settings can find food and dining in Usdan Cafe and Sherman Dining Hall, which feature food free of milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, shellfish and wheat as well as gluten. An allergen-safe environment is also offered at the MyZone area, where students can prepare their own foods from packaged ingredients on stations.
