A Canadian couple created a documentary, called The Allergy Fix, exploring the possible causes of the explosion in food allergies and the treatments being studied.

It airs on CBC TV’s The Nature of Things this Thursday.

Documentary tells story, shows research

The documentary was created by Bruce Mohun and Sue Ridout. They followed a Canadian boy for a year, documenting his participation in a groundbreaking peanut desensitization program. Throughout, it featured information on the latest research and treatment methods for food allergies, as well as background on suspected causes of their rapid increase in the population – ranging from the weird to the possibly scientific.

The documentary will air on CBC TV on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m., followed by repeat showings on March 2 and 3 at 11 a.m. and on the CBC News Network on March 1 at 4 p.m.

The North Vancouver couple considers the film very important and say they are glad to see it get a public airing.
