In 2004, Chicago held the inaugural Walk For Food Allergy. The event was held as a fundraiser for the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, or FAAN.
Since that year, the program has grown to include more than 40 events nationwide. This year, a few cities held FAAN walks in the spring. However, most of the cities are holding walks in August and September. FAAN hopes you’ll join in this year by participating in a walk near you.
These walks are popular opportunities for people affected by food allergies to share stories and tips. These kid-friendly events are held to raise funds for food allergy education, advocacy, awareness, and research programs. This year, the organization hopes to raise $2.4 million.
Since the inaugural Walk for Food Allergy, FAAN has been able to fund more than $4.6 million in food allergy research, in addition to supporting important food allergy education efforts to help people stay safe while living with food allergies.
