The Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) non-profit has launched a new program called SafeFARE, an online resource center and public service announcement featuring celebrity chefs Bryan Voltaggio and Mike Isabella to make dining out safer and more enjoyable for those managing food allergies.
The SafeFARE website has tools and resources for diners with food allergies, including tips for before and after the restaurant visit, a Food Allergy Alert chef card that can be customized, and a Find a Restaurant feature to locate food allergy-aware restaurants.
FARE-approved restaurants that are included in the database are those which have staff who have completed either the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe Allergens Online Course or MenuTrinfo’s AllerTrain course. Restaurant listings on the site include fare served, food allergy policies, and a link to the eatery’s entry in the AllergyEats directory.
A Food Allergy Teamwork PSA is being distributed to TV and radio stations nationally to promote the SafeFARE program. You can find out more about the program and access the online resource center at safefare.org.
