Actress Lana Wood, who rose to fame as Plenty O’Toole in the 1971 James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever, was rushed to the hospital last week after reportedly suffering a severe allergic reaction that left her struggling to breathe.
TheDaily Mailreports that the actress started coughing while she was preparing dinner at home on Tuesday. Then, her face began to swell, causing her mouth and eyelids to swell closed. The paramedics were called to her home in Fillmore, California, about 60 miles away from Los Angeles. A photo published byTMZshowed paramedics tending to Wood outside of her home.
She was then taken to a local medical facility, and then to a hospital for more extensive care. Thankfully, she recovered, and was able to return home a few hours after the symptoms subsided.
The 66-year-old, who is the younger sister of legendary actress Natalie Wood, is now at home and is said to be doing fine. There’s no word yet on the exact cause of her allergic reaction, though it is speculated that an ingredient in the meal she was preparing may be to blame. It’s also not known whether Wood had been previously diagnosed with an allergy.
