Are you or a family member allergic to peanuts? If so, pay attention to the recent ice cream recall by Kroger. The Kroger grocery store chain is recalling certain containers of Private Selection Extreme Moose Tracks ice cream. According toThe Examiner,the ice cream may contain peanuts, although no peanut warning was printed on the label.
While it’s not certain that the recalled ice cream does contains nuts, it was processed on equipment that is also used for ice cream containing peanuts. As a result, there could be traces of peanuts in the ice cream. This cross-contamination could cause a serious allergic reaction in people who are allergic to peanuts.
The containers included under the recall were sold in ten states, including Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It was also sold through other stores in Illinois and Indiana. The recalled ice cream was sold in pint containers with a ‘sell by’ date of June 18, 2012.
