Make Your Own Nut-Free Lip Balm With This Quick And Easy Recipe

Honey and Cocoa Butter Lip Balm

This recipe makes about 100 applications of yummy, soothing lip balm.

You will need:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey
  • 3/4 teaspoon grated beeswax
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure cocoa butter
  • flavored oil of your choosing (e.g., vanilla, peppermint)
  • 1 vitamin E capsule

Preparation:

  1. Heat the oil, honey, wax, and cocoa butter in a small saucepan over low heat, just until melted.
  2. Remove pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in a few drops of flavoring and contents of the vitamin E capsule.
  4. Pour into a small container(s).

Berry Lip Stain

This recipe makes a small amount of lip stain that lasts for a few days—longer if the stain is refrigerated.

You will need:

  • 3 blackberries
  • 1 raspberry
  • 3 pomegranate seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon olive oil

Preparation:

  1. In a small bowl, thoroughly mash the blackberries and raspberry with the back of a spoon (or use a mortar and pestle).
  2. Add the pomegranate juice by squeezing each of the seeds with your thumb and index finger.
  3. Add the olive oil and stir the mixture.
  4. Drain the liquid away from the berry pulp, into a small jar.

The stain can be applied by fingertip, Q-tip, or using a lip brush.
