I just emailed Clabber Girl again asking for further clarification on the tree nut ingredients. I will post my response as soon as I hear back.

Well, your email is more recent than mine. Maybe some things have changed, I don't know.
You are right though about comfort zones. Some people need the facility to be nut free. I understand that. For our dd, we try to get things that have dedicated lines whenever possible.
I'm very interested in hearing what they say to you about the tree nuts. My dd is TNA and PA and I just promised to bring some ingredients into school because they are baking.
Thanks for following up with them.

My son is PA/TNA and he has used both Clabber and Rumford for years w/o a problem. He has also played with Argo cornstarch. We use to make oobleck a lot and playdoh...but he has never ingested it. However, he is contact sensitive to peanuts and I suspect to nuts. We never had a problem with the cornstarch he played with...not sure if that helps you at all.

we use argo cornstarch. when i spoke with them a few months ago they assured me they were nut free.
we also use rumford baking powder...does it sound like the new 2007 facility will have peanuts in it -- just segregated, or am i reading this incorrectly?

Good Question. It does kind of make you wonder. Maybe they are just stating what the machinery can do, not necessarily that they will need to screen for those items.
I'm still yet to hear back on the conrnstarch clarification on cross contamination. They must be looking into this a little more intensly.

good point, HJK. the statement about the 2007 plant is a little unclear about what allergens will actually BE in that plant. i'll be curious to see their reply.
i love rumford baking powder because it's the only aluminum-free powder i can find.

I like Rumford too for that reason. Now I'm confused though about that statement. It sounds though like they're trying to go in the direction of being safer.

Good news! I've just heard back from Pamela Meeks at Clarbber Girl and it looks as though both the baking powder and cornstarch are run on dedicated lines - Here is her response...
Dear XXXX,
The corn starch and baking powder are both run on dedicated lines which prevent cross contamination.
