Anyone have one? I just saw it in a catalog - the machine makes the ice cream, then has a spout for it to come out soft serve style. It even has dispensers for mix-ins, and a cone holder.

I have a Cuisinart regular ice cream maker - I love it, but I know that even when the bowls are totally frozen it still comes out a little melty - just wondering how it would come out of this type of maker. Looked really cool

I'm interested, too, in anyone's opinions on the soft serve machine.

I also would like opinions on this. I just saw this one online after looking at mixed reviews on the inexpensive one in this week's Target ad. I would love to get a soft-serve maker.

I just bought the regular one where you pour the ingredients into the top. Just used it and it turned out WONDERFUL. The girls are enjoying it right now. Not to soft either!!!

We have had this for about 6 months now and LOVE it! We bought an extra bowl to keep in the freezer. It makes about 10 servings and the recipes included are really good The "mix in" capability is really not impresive though... just comes down a shoot. We make ice cream and frozen yogurt. The left overs freeze harder that the "hard serve" ice cream maker we have, so I think next time I will make ice cream cookie sandwitches instead. We have the Rival hard serve maker and everyone is amazed at our homemade ice cream. We do eat Bryers too, but I prefer to make our own now. The soft serve makes up for DQ... and I can get the twist perfect with a little practice!

Thanks! Looks like we will be investing in one this summer! I get a ton of use out of the regular ice cream maker, but I know ds will be thrilled with a real soft style cone

As to the freezer bowls the soft-serve maker uses -- are these exactly the same bowls as the ones in their regular Cuisinart Ice Cream maker?
If so, I already have 2 of those, and if I got one on these soft-serve makers, I could then serve an entire class of 3rd grade kids for a party & have safe ice cream, WOO HOO?!!
Anyone have both & know the answer to this?

The cheapest place that I have found to purchase additional bowls in www.crateandbarrel.com
If you have a crate and barrel store near you it is even more convenient.
If I am not mistaken the bowls are about $10 each with shipping being $5.50. So for about 15 bucks you can own an extra bowl that is brand new and you didn't even have to find it on ebay.
