I have been using this recipe since I had to make it in Home Ec. in grade 8, and it was the best pancakes I'd ever tasted.

2 cups flour
1 TBSP baking powder
2 TBSP sugar
pinch salt
1 egg
2 cups milk

I have ommitted the egg and milk when we had friends over that had allergies to these, and just substituted water. They turned out great.

If you don't want to mix up the whole recipe in the morning, mix together the dry ingredients and just add the egg and milk (or water) in the morning. This is what I do when we go camping

Did you exclude the egg and the milk at the same time and they turned out ok?

Yes, I did once when we had a friend over who is allergic to milk and I had run out of eggs. She loved them.
