I am new to all of this and I am making a broccoli dish that calls for pecans. Is there anything that I could substitute for the pecans? I think pretzels will be too salty. Thank you in advance

I don't know because pecans tend to be sweet. My son has a peanut allergy and we don't know about the tree nuts yet, we are just staying away from them. I was asked to make this dish, but I can't find anything for pecans. Thanks for you help.

I would try using some kind of seeds. Maybe pumpkin seeds or sesame seeds if you don't want to use sunflower seed. It can be tricky to find seeds that are not cross-contaminated with peanuts, though.
How are the nuts used in the recipe?

They are just mixed in with broccoli, water chestnuts, and onion soup mix. I may try pumpkin seeds or just not use anything.
