The Chopra Center is now offering a free mindfulness program for kids.

The goal of this eight-week online course is building a more compassionate and conscious family dynamic. It’s an excellent opportunity to introduce mindfulness to your children, or strengthen the mindfulness skills they might have already acquired.

Mindfulness is paying non-judgmental attention to what is occurring in the present moment. Thoughts, feelings, objects, and events are noticed, but not labeled as good or bad, right or wrong—everything simply is what it is.

This moment by moment awareness can help with the anxiety many individuals and families managing a food allergy experience. When focused on present perceptions, the worry that generates and sustains anxiety is disrupted, so the body relaxes, and the mind clears.

Research also reveals that children taught mindfulness are better able to regulate their behavior, plan ahead, focus on tasks, and they demonstrate improved relationship skills. This is why some schools now have mindfulness practice as part of their curriculum.

Chopra’s Mindfulness For Kids program presents tools and techniques that families can use together. Every week, for eight weeks, children will be given one family-oriented thing to focus on. The program includes:

  • Meditations geared for children.
  • Kid-oriented breathing and yoga practices.
  • Mindful parenting tips.
  • Stress, anxiety, and ADHD management tools for children.
  • Exercises designed to develop emotional intelligence and compassion.

To take advantage of this opportunity you just have to sign up (link provided below).

Mindfulness is like that—it is the miracle which can call back in a flash our dispersed mind and restore it to wholeness so that we can live each minute of life. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
